Dream in Color ™
Many exhibitions of his work have taken place in various cities in France (Paris, Strasbourg, Mulhouse, Huningue, Illirch), Switzerland (Basel), Spain (various) and USA.
Alan Maymo /my-mo/
Alan Maymo was born in France to immigrant parents from Spain. He grew up in a multicultural and multilingual environment on the border with Switzerland and Germany. After art school and painting, teaching and exhibiting in France for years, Alan started working in Switzerland and developed “Maymo Art” in 1997. He decided to break free from traditional painting with constraints and allow his imagination to soar. He started putting emphasis on color and the impact created on the mind when painted on unexpected subjects. Alan’s goal is to open a door to dream and imagine giving the viewer the possibility to enter other worlds.
Since then, he has been painting colorful fantasy art inspired from all around the world. Whether it's ethnic portraits, exotic landscapes, animals dressed in ceremonial outfits or creating unique designs using various art techniques. When he met his wife, Tracy, she fell in love with the art (and him of course!) and immediately imagined his work on various surfaces. They are now based in Florida and attend trade shows all over the USA in addition to licensing their art.
In parallel to his artwork, Alan holds a 5th degree blackbelt in a self-defense martial art, writes poetry and has published two books that were accepted in The Society of French Poets. In 2017, he published a coloring book and will publish another one soon. He speaks 4 languages fluently, has a working knowledge of a 5th and is currently deciding what will be his sixth. Finally, he is a professional interpreter and French teacher and colors the lives of his clients with the expression of language.
Tracy is a seasoned globe trotter who has lived, traveled, worked and volunteered in more than 30 countries. After receiving a Master’s in Education, she started her own language company in 2002 in Florida. Since then, she has taken the business online and offers professional online language courses in English, French and Spanish to clients all over the planet. www.efsonline-usa.com
As a young girl, Tracy was an artist at heart and often won art contests in school. Later in university, she designed and made her own clothing as a hobby as well as delved into the ancient arts such as Japanese cut art (paper cutting), paper making and the design of lampshades and stationary, Indonesian batik painting and block design, Australian aboriginal art and wood burning on furniture. Today, she is anxious to spend her little free time practicing acrylic marbling on canvas and Turkish ebru water marbling on paper (an art dating back to the Persians and Indians).
Tracy is also the business person and Manager of Maymo Art. Alan paints and draws and Tracy designs clothing and accessories with his designs as well as a few pieces with her favorite marbles.
